Communion Set, Travel Tabernakle, Gold Plated

COMMUNION SET - SICK CALL - Gold Plated In the Eastern Church, Holy Communion is administered under species, bread and wine.
The reserved sacrament is carried to the sick in a "church" shaped metal container topped with a Cross.

The front of the container has a representation of the Crucifixion with the Holy City of Jerusalem in the background; instruments of Passion on each side for the Cross; Golgotha at the foot of the Cross is represented by stones with a "skull" representing Adam and all mankind.

  The verso has a representation of a three barred Cross.

Inside the container is a small rectangular box which very looks like a "tomb" or "sepulcher" in which the reserved Sacrament is carried. The reserved sacrament in the East is a cube of consecrated leavened bread which has a drop of consecrated wine applied to it and dried.
The set also contains a miniature chalice and spoon. The reserved sacrament is placed in the chalice and additional wine is added before administering the sacrament with the spoon.
