Virgin Mary Glykophilousa, "Sweet-kissing" or "Loving Kindness" icon depicts the Virgin Mary caressing her son, so that they appear to be kissing.
In the Byzantine representations, the Child caresses her cheek while she appears sad, seemingly contemplating his coming Passion.

The icon's gold background is from bronze leaf and applied by hand to icon board. The icon was meticulously and reverently created by hand, using traditional forms and materials in a unique and contemporary serigraphic procedure.
