A prayer rule is a regular pattern of prayer followed by an Orthodox Christian. It may include morning and evening prayers, the Jesus Prayer, psalms, Scripture, or other approved prayers.
Does everyone have the same prayer rule? No. A suitable rule depends on a person's circumstances, experience, and spiritual needs. Longer is not automatically better.
Who can help establish a rule? Orthodox Christians often seek guidance from their parish priest or spiritual father, especially when changing a prayer discipline significantly.
