The front is a representation of the
icon of the Decent Into Hell. In the Eastern Church the Feast of Pascha (Easter) consists of two feasts.
First - Christ's Decent into Hades (Hell) and His bodily Resurrection from the Dead.
This Cross show Christ (the first burn from the dead) standing on the Cross holding on one hand the triumphant raised Cross and with the other he is holding Adam's hand pulling him from the grave.
On the other side is a representation of Eve who with Adam represents the human race.
